It’s January, and every January I begin again. How about you? I create new intentions; I eat better and I always start a new diet plan. I am happy I do, it’s not just about letting go of the unwanted weight it’s about feeling better, having more energy and being my best self. This year I have created a book and program for myself to follow. I also wanted to share with you, so you can also start your year off right. Even if it’s passed January, it can always be the perfect time to begin something new.

What is the Healthiest Way to Lose Weight?

When it comes to weight loss, there’s no shortage of advice. How do you know who to trust or what to listen to? I believe everyone is different, yet I believe that in many ways, we are the same. If we crowd out processed food, and add in more clean food, we will feel better. There is no magic pill, but there are good tools to use to eat better and feel healthier. Our book, how to eat clean and be well, is a great guide to help you begin your journey to healthier you.

I am hoping that this will work for you, the same way it has for me over the years. All you have to do is decide to take the leap, read the simple guidelines, follow them the best you can, cook the easy recipes, add our drink elixirs into the mix and you will have success!

It’s not about how fast you get healthy or lose weight. It’s about the process and exchanging your unwanted habits for good ones. How many times have you lost weight, only to gain it back, and sometimes gaining even more? I don’t want that for you. I recommend to my clients a slow and steady weight loss of 1/2 to 2 pounds a week. Shifting habits is the way to go to have success and keep the weight off for good. Successful weight loss requires a commitment to making healthy lifestyle, food, exercise, environment and habits choices. Changing habits is a big part of changing your life for the better, it’s one of the reasons we created our drink elixirs and this diet plan. This could be the change you were looking for!

One of the quickest healthy ways to lose weight is to cut back on carbs

One way to lose weight quickly is to cut back on sugar and carbohydrates. By saying no to refined carbohydrates, the weight tends to fall off easily. As refined carbohydrates tend to be empty calories.  By reducing your sugars, which are highly addictive starches you will be less hungry, have less cravings, and you will consume fewer calories overall. Check out this study, Sugar addiction: More Serious Than You Think from Rutgers University.

In our diet plan, we are recommending taking out the high calorie, highly addictive starches and replacing them with ones that provide good energy and have more nutritional value. There is significant research that proves that reducing sugars, starches, and carbs from your diet will help curb your appetite, lower your insulin levels, and lose weight.

Adding more protein in your diet is a great way to feel healthy 

Eating a protein-rich diet can help people lose weight because it helps you avoid overeating. How much chicken can you really eat? Eating foods that are high in protein has many benefits, including muscle tissue building, weight loss, and feeling the feeling of satisfaction after eating. When combined with exercise, a high protein diet can help build lean muscle. Lean muscle allows you to burn more calories through the day, which can also aid healthy weight loss.

The following are high protein foods that I recommend helping you lose weight: 

Meat: beef, chicken, pork, and lamb

Fish and seafood: salmon, tuna, white fish and shellfish

Other: eggs, legumes, tempeh and tofu

Low carb vegetables

Don’t be afraid to load your plate with low carbohydrate vegetables. They’re packed with nutrients, and you can eat very large amounts without greatly increasing calories and carbs. They are also good source of fiber, which is very beneficial when trying to lose weight.

Here is a little cool trick to know if a vegetable is low in carbohydrates. Vegetables grown above ground are usually low carbs and should be added to your diet. Vegetables that are grown below ground contain more carbs, so you’ll have to be more careful when consuming them, especially potatoes.

Adding healthy fats into your diet help you feel satisfied

Don’t fear fat, we need fats in our diet to stay healthy, have energy and to feel satisfied. Since the low-fat diet trend has come into our lives, Americans are heavier than ever. Read this study from Harvard School of Public Health titled Have low-fat diets made us fatter

Here are some more tips to lose weight faster

Drink coffee with butter before you eat breakfast, adding a little fat into your morning routine will make you more satisfied and have less cravings throughout the day. 

Always avoid sugary drinks and fruit juice. Empty calories from sugar aren’t useful to your body and can hinder weight loss. Replace them with our elixirs, which are all natural and have no added sugar.  

Drinking our elixirs before meals can help reduce calorie intake and may be effective in weight management.

Eat more mindfully and slow down. Be present and appreciative of what you’re eating. Never watch TV while you are eating.
